News & Politics / On Gay Marriage
« Last post by Ted S on March 26, 2013, 04:48:33 pm »
Seems like there is nonstop gnashing-of-teeth over this whole gay marriage thing but in my opinion the entire discussion is moot.

The real discussion ought to be:

Why should the government favor married people over single people?

If the government made law that treated people as individuals this whole gay marriage thing would go away. Can anybody tell me why the government should give preference to one group of people while ignoring or punishing another group?

Look, marriage is a good thing but it can be a private thing.  I just can't see why the government needs to be in the marriage business at all.

You had a differing opinion.  I guess the kind of diversity they like is only skin deep. They celebrate a wide range of skin tones but if you don't toe-the-liberal-line then you are to be silenced.  Sadly, that is a feature of the hard left.

Are there any other political discussion boards besides this one left?  Clara has been pretty darn good at letting the discussion free-wheel but all of the liberals are gone now.

I called him a bully and asked whether his bullying is limited to the Internet.

What's sad is that his board was actually interesting for a number of years.  You could hardly blame him and his Clique for triumphalism during Obama's rise to power.  It was funny how their mood turned during the summer of 2009, and the active suppression of opposition opinion began shortly thereafter.

I haven't found anyplace that I like.  I occasionally post to www.debatepolitics.com but it's too big for my taste.

I signed up for Hypercrites.com (Lincoln's place) a couple of weeks ago and was approved.  A year or two back I tried to signup and was told to go away because I was a troll -- I think.  What's different now?  Nothing, other than I think I was mistaken for somebody else before.

I haven't made even a single post there yet and the way it's looking I doubt I ever will. So far none of the topics interest me and the nastiness coming from the left is a notch or two above your typical political board.

He finally banned me yesterday.  Take a look at what I did to provoke it!

My score was 27.  Interestingly, that places me very near the spot on the timeline where I was actually born.

BTW, I guess the test measures how millennial you are, not your coolness.  But that might just be a distinction without a difference.
