Did you go to Public Schools? Kentay

I sure did, in the 60's and 70's, and they turned-out a leftist in me.  Like many, I was a leftist in my younger years but I had a truly open mind and when I started paying real attention to current events and politics, the leftist point-of-view started taking-on-water.  By time time I hit 40 I was a solid constitutional conservative or classical liberal.

Since I never went to any privately run schools I have no way of knowing whether my education would have been better there.  I do remember having an "ecology week" in junior high where normal classes were suspended and we all went to classes about the environment. I don't remember any "free market" week or anything like it.

The good news is I was eventually able to escape the liberal pap of those early years and go on to live life knowing that I was the primary driver of my own life.  I didn't just sit around waiting on the government to make my life wonderful.
Tsk tsk tsk. You make it sound like you didn't turn into a conservative--you turned into a reactionary.

I grew up attending first private school then public school and I can tell you that neither teaches you much. The former attempts to program your brain with an agenda and the latter is run like a business: selling crap vended by shitty text books by a bloated and overrated administration. I learned best from the best teachers, and I've had remarkable teachers in both types of school. I've also had shitty teachers in both types of school.

The stuff I've learned, I've learned by my own extracurricular research and reading, once I nailed down how research is done. And I'm still doing it. Research is a life lesson well learned in any school.
