Speak for your own swings and misses--those businesses wouldn't exist without government either because you know damn well other busineses wouldn't build their own roads, bridges, etc.
Sure they would. Woody just provided a good example. Businesses wouldn't build bridges and roads if there were no way to monetize it but if there is a way to make some money, they'll do it.
But I think you missed my point. The point I was trying to make is that when government officials decide to build a bridge over a river for example, they solicit bids from private businesses and the winner gets to build the bridge. Point being, it's the construction workers from that private business that actually build the bridge, not government employees. The government simply takes money from its citizens and lets politicians decide where, when, and what kind of bridge to build. The labor is provided almost exclusively by private business. So in the end, the people provide the funds, business provides the labor, and politicians make the important decisions -- often for political reasons.
