----Yet socialist-led Norwaygovernment's pension fundits portfolio is more like a dirty list of the world's worst corporations, including numerous oil, mining and agribusiness corporations criticised for their human rights record and environmental impacts. The fund also invests in half a dozen tax havens-----
----Even worse is policy on oil. Norway is the world's third largest exporter of oil and gas, which provide more than a third of government revenues. Last year, when the doubling of world oil prices plunged millions of people in developing countries into poverty, oil revenues boosted government coffers by 17 times the value of Norway's overseas aid. StatoilHydro, 67% owned by the government, operates in several countries accused of corruption and dire human rights records-----
-----On the environment, Norway's benign image is also removed from reality. True, nearly all domestic electricity comes from hydroelectric plants and Norway was one of the first to adopt a carbon tax to address global warming, in 1991. Yet with 0.1% of the world's population, Norway emits 0.3% of greenhouse gas emissions; if oil exports are included, the figure may be about 2% Norway's weapons sales have tripled since 2000used by the US and Britain during the invasion of Iraq---
First off you are wrong about Norway; it is not a socialist country and if it was the US should adopt some policies due to how much more successful its for of Government is than that of the US.
When it comes to the investments of the oil money the Norwegians just got a big laugh about the complaints by the US embassy in Oslo who complained because it refuses to invest in unethical companies who work against the public interest and discriminate. In this case Wal Mart was the company black listed. There is a concerted effort in Norway to avoid supporting unethical companies, if some are not caught then too bad.
When it comes to drilling, Norway does drill in the Gulf of Mexico if that is what you are referring to.
On the environment I would like to see a comparison per capita regarding what Norway spends on research to combat global climate change with that of the US.
When it comes to arms sales, yes, they are guilty: The US is not the only nation who sells arms.
Just saw an article in a Norwegian paper where they sold another $ 970 Million worth of weapons to the US so there is greed there also.
I didn't write this article. But i would tend to believe it more than I believe you. If you "would like to see a comparison per capita regarding what Norway spends on research to combat global climate change with that of the US", then do some research.
