In recent years my own home state of Minnesota has elected Jesse Ventura, Michele Bachmann, and Al Franken.  That can't possibly be the result of consistent and clear thinking.

I'm not so sure they actually "elected" Al Franken.

I live in Illinois, and I'll grant you that the political results here on the state and local level are inexplicable.
