I love our freedoms but when we let any hate or bigoted groups of words drive our policy by trying to hide behind religious or political parties in the name of liberty is not liberty in my opinion.

Liberty is not a subjective word that can be used to describe anything that feels good.  Liberty has a precise definition:



It is a digital definition.  You either have liberty or you don't.  It's like a conventional light switch; it's either on or off. There's no in between.

Your idea that people should be allowed to say whatever they want unless it offends a group that you feel kinship with violates the whole idea liberty because it requires somebody to arbitrarily choose which groups are protected from offensive language and which groups are unprotected.  Exactly who gets to choose these winners and losers?  Politicians?  Bureaucrats?  Civil servants?

That's putting a lot of power in the hands of mortal human beings.
