That's what I thought--therefore I don't expect to hear a peep outta you about what Politifact (or any other media org) says, cuz it's free speech.

That goes for the rest of you cons. Either you believe in the First Amendment's guarantee of the freedom of the press or you don't.

Sometimes I'm just plain stunned at ignorance of those on the left about the Bill of Rights.

The first amendment prevents the government from regulating speech.  It doesn't keep private citizens like your's truly from being critical of others' speech.  Politifact can say whatever they want and they should expect no interference from government but when they present the facts in a misleading way I get to call them on it because I'm just a citizen.

However; hate speech is NOT protected.  Racist statement or facts can be offensive to others and therefore is not covered under the first amendment.

I completely disagree Don; completely. Racist speech is unwise but it certainly shouldn't be unlawful and neither should offensive speech. Speech that incites violence is a really gray area.

I rarely see a post that I disagree with from you Ted, but on this one my friend, I do.  Racism should be outlawed because it incites hatred, starts riots and causes unnecessary harm

If this were true we could call the police and have Kentay thrown in jail tonight because he has been making racist remarks all day.  He has been implying that white people are to blame for the ills of the world.  Not only have many of his posts been racist they have also offended me because I'm white.  So we could haul him off in cuffs for being racist and offensive.

I hope you see where this is going Don.  Racism and offensive language is in the eye of the beholder. I cringe at the idea of people being arrested for being offensive.

Truth is that I neither find Kentay to be racist nor do I find him offensive.  He's really just a leftist.

Ted,

I simply was implying that it was not protected under his 1st amendment rights.  I know it is not against the law, but he could not use racist remarks and then claim he has the constitutional right to do such. That type of speech is not protected

And yet you fail to mention all the times Republicans blame Obama for not keeping promises because of House obstruction.  Let's be fair, shall we?

This is not one party blaming the other for obstruction, this is a fact checking organization making a ruling that blurs the truth.  While it is indeed true that Republicans have so far been unable to repeal Obamacare, the fact that it is because of Democrat obstruction isn't obvious from Politifact's simple designation as a "Broken Promise."

There is always going to be excuses for broken promises. The Republican should not have said that would repeal healthcare it just make them look stupid and whinny, if they didn't know how congress works. Besides It was only done for political reasons to win over and hoodwink the less knowledgeable voters and haters. kentay

They said they would VOTE to repeal Obamacare.  And why don't you complain about all the phoney votes that Dingy Harry continuously stages in the Senate?  There was another one yesterday.

I beg to differ. All speech should be protected, including racist and offensive speech.  If it's not protected then it means that people can be arrested for doing nothing more than voicing their opinion.  A scary thought.
