How can we as a country brag we are the greatest

How can we as a country brag we are the greatest when poverty is increasing drastically,  we don't have universal health care, we love wars and more of our citizens have been Incarcerated than any civilized country on earth. Women are still treated like property by some men who make the laws. While other men want a wife to be subservient to the male who proclaims his dominance, and men want to control her body. This is all done in accordance to some old man's religious views and teachings, thousands of years ago, but not Christ.  I believe that all of us who are born whether male or woman are born equal. No other civilized country in the western world has those kinds of statistics for its people. If the type of capitalism we have is so great then why isn't the rest of us benefiting, who are not in the top 1%. Back when we built the largest middle class the world has ever known was when we had village capitalism where people got wealthier but so did everyone move up under the wealthy at that time and people cared about their neighbors. I can remember when the wealthy actually care what happen to all the people of this country and our country became the envy of the world because we were truly number one. But now we are headed down in all of the markers that make countries great except in one and that is the growth in people making million and billion dollars within the top 1%, while the rest of our incomes are falling as well as our standard of living. We also don't build anything big any more, something that the wealthy use to do all the time and take pride in. Today the only fairy tale like vision I have is seeing a wealthy person in his vault playing with his money and only trying to get more and more. Today the wealthy are  doing nothing for the society and all the others before him who built the country he used and grew up in. I have never seen any more selfish uncaring generation who wraps themselves more in the flag and religion and creates less,  than those now at the top.   kentay

Our citizens do not k ow what poverty really is.  We house, feed, cloth, and provide cell phones for those who are truly poor.  Poverty is what I saw in Bosnia, or what we saw in Somalia.

I'd like to make the general observation that something can indeed be the "greatest" yet fall short of perfection.  Capitalism isn't perfect, it's just vastly better than the alternatives.
