Rush Limbaugh's Newest Moment of Misogyny: Women's Vote Screwed Up The Country
July 04, 2012

Video: http://mediamatters.org/video/2012/07/03/limbaugh-says-when-women-got-the-right-to-vote/186928

I really try not to pay attention to Rush Limbaugh after his ludicrous, ugly, venomous attacks on Sandra Fluke. Now that he's out of the limelight a bit, he's going straight back at it with a vengeance.

Today's little gem comes courtesy of Media Matters. On the same day that Slimeball Joe Walsh tried to swiftboat Tammy Duckworth, Rush thinks it's just a great idea to say that the country was great until women got the vote.

The segment begins with a caller whipping out his pocket Constitution and arguing that "Obamacare" is really the fault of young people. In his mind, those 18 year olds are the reason we've elected "someone this foolish."

Limbaugh counters with "Nah, I can do one better than that. When women got the vote is when it all went downhill."
That's right, Rush. Women got the vote and women spend the household money, and so you just keep flapping your ugly misogynistic mouth off about how much we've screwed up the country. If you keep insulting women, you'll end up with no sponsors, and then they won't be able to keep your bloviating bad self on the air.

By the way, that's not robbing you of your right to free speech, Rush. You've got the right to say whatever you want. What you don't have is the right to the microphone paid for by people who buy products advertised on your airwaves.

Both of these guys could use a lesson in the First Amendment and the Constitution. But in Rush's case, it isn't the first post-Fluke Moment of Misogyny, and it won't be the last, I'm sure.
Despite Limbaugh's protestations that he was (ha ha ha) just kidding, there's no reason at all to believe he was.

Yes Rush  you're right on with your sick thinking. It's all women fault even though man has always been in charge. Your marriages say more about you and women than your words could ever say. Your brain has been affected by your illegal use of drugs and it looks like your getting fatter by the day. kentay

Let's see; women vote for the first time in the mid 1920s.  The stock market crashes in 1929.  FDR is popularly elected in 1932, brings us the uber-liberal New Deal / welfare state, and quickly turns a tough recession into the Great Depression.  Yeah, it must be just a fluke that welfare state and the Great Depression followed closely on the heals of the maiden voyage of the women's vote.

Decisions made based on emotion rather than reason have consequences.  And yes, what I'm saying here is that women are more emotional than men. Not always, but in general.  Sorry, it's not a fashionable thing to say but it's the truth.  Think about the meaning and the origin of the word hysterical.

I'm also not saying that women shouldn't be allowed to vote, I'm simply saying that suddenly allowing a large swath of the population with a different mindset to be in on decision making for the first time will change the nature of the decisions being made.  It's no accident that the gender that nurtures our children votes for politicians that desire for a nurturing government.

Lastly, if you listen to the clip above, Rush seems to stop speaking in mid sentence, there pause, and then he comes back.  Obviously it is an edited clip.  Unless I hear the unedited version it would be wrong to be overly critical of it and lets face the facts, Media Matters employs the most overworked editors in the business.

Men have always controlled everything
Everything whether good, bad or evil since the beginning of man, was started by and implemented by men regardless of skin color or religions. It's as if men have ignored women and have treated them as second class citizens no matter what religion or culture they live in. No person or groups of men is right all the time and if allowed to continue will make more and more mistake, all slanted to benefit man and against anyone of different color, religion from them including women. Without both genders and people of color having their point of view expressed and used to help change our country and the world for the better. If only men stay in control they will continue to treat anyone different from them differently and we all will be treated as a second class persons and only used to service them and increased their own heirs. This also applies to those who wrote our religious books were men not women and were and still are biased with mans best interest and mentality for active or inactive wars with other peoples religion and others lives, because they don't serve, they just start wars I always thought that the USA was different and was slowly improving the rights, interest and authority of minority including gender who are Us citizen. Right now it looks like the men on the right are unwilling to share power with anyone and are surly arming themselves for a civil war that is sure to come as they wrap themselves with the American Flag under the false umbrella of religion. kentay

So it is your opinion that women have never "started" or "implemented" anything? Sounds like you and Rush see eye to eye.

Kentay, you packed a lot of words in there but I'm afraid that it comes across as an expansive yet empty platitude.  The history of mankind it seems cannot be covered in a single paragraph.  I think you'd do better to just tackle a single point with a detailed explanation.

Lots of men and women like to be dictators. Just look at the Obamacare mandate. You MUST buy government approved health insurance or you will be penalized, or taxed.  That's a dictate.

Sadly, when you give people the change to control other people's lives, many can't resist.

Ted, why do you post half truths I thought you were better than that. Only those people who chose not to buy any healthcare or have any healthcare and use the Hospital emergency care as their healthcare provider, have to pay the penalty. I have excellent health care under Medicare and I earned Tri-care for life. I do not have to pay the penalty. It's just like Romney healthcare penalty in Mass, when he was Gov that he past and the people love in. Mass has the most insured people of any of our states. Texas is the worst with 22% children and 25% adults not insured, what a difference by compassionate Conservatives   kentay

Ted, why do you post half truths I thought you were better than that.

I'm not posting any half truths. The difference is that you and I see the very same things different light.

If there were 100 people in a room and 95 of them were financially secure and 5 were in financial trouble I would see this as a mostly positive thing. After all, the vast majority are doing well.  I suspect that you would view the same situation differently because of the lowest 5%. You would prefer that all 100% be financially secure, as would I, but you would be willing to forcibly take from the top 5% and give it to the bottom 5% and I wouldn't.

I simply believe that history shows that societies formed around individual freedom bring a greater standard of living and more happiness to a greater number of people than do societies formed around forced equality.

Name me any western Country that has more Individual Freedom with a higher standard of living that is ahead of us. All the socialist type countries in Western Europe are ahead of us, we are no longer number one. Like we were in the 50-60-70, when people cared about their neighbors,  then the greedy took over.  You said:

"You MUST buy government approved health insurance or you will be penalized, or taxed.  That's a dictate."  That is just not true only those people who chose not to buy any healthcare or have any healthcare and use the Hospital emergency care as their healthcare provider, have to pay the penalty. So I rated you as posting a half truth unless you can prove differently. kentay
