Meteor
« on: February 15, 2013, 12:07:01 pm »
So a pretty big meteor hit Russia this morning and injured some people. A much bigger one is supposed to pass by earth today closer to the earth's surface than is the satellite that brings HBO to your living room.  I don't know about you but that's a bit too close for my comfort.

But what would happen if a big meteor actually hit the earth?  Big enough to make people think that the world might be near the end?

If you were a policeman would you spend what might be your last few days on earth patrolling the streets?  Or might you choose to go home and be with your family?

I'm guessing that if there were worldwide mayhem a semiautomatic weapon might just come in handy.  Just something to think about while all this gnashing of teeth goes on after the recent shooting in CT.

If it were to come to pass that a meteorite (meteors don't hit the Earth--only meteorites do) hit in a place on the planet that was populated and otherwise caused major calamity in the nation where that was to occur, I predict that Christians everywhere would name the thing Wormwood because it would prove that the Book of Revelation was a self-fulfilling "prophecy".

If I were famous enough to predict that a meteorite would hit the Earth and caused major calamity and predicted that people would call it "Ixblat", people would indeed name the next calamitous meteorite "Ixblat" and proclaim that my prophecy came true.
