I know I shouldn't feel this way, but whenever she does this -- which is often -- I'm embarrassed by the fact that she's so easily identifiable as being Jewish.
She is a wonderful caring person, what I don't understand is you come from one of the most persecuted people, you should be embrrassed by how you think and feel. You above all should know what it means to be bully or persecuted because of religion, facial features and other lies about Jews as a group. Anyone like you who forgets his roots and history of where he comes from is likely to feel the pain again. Most of the Jews both in this country and other countries are liberals, why are only the wealthy Conservative? Not only among Jews but all people thought-out the world that are wealthy are conservative right wingers. The only place I know this not to be true is in the Scandinavian countries which are Liberal and have the highest standard of living in the world. kentay
Excuse me, the minority of Jews who are politically conservative are concentrated among the religiously Orthodox, and the Orthodox in general represent the bottom of the Jewish socioeconomic ladder. That is, the poorest Jews are generally the most conservative, the uber-rich are Obamanistas, save Sheldon Adelson, G-d bless him!
Originally he was a Democrat, Adelson became a Republican as his wealth increased. I have a question for you, why when you're young and not wealthy you care about other people, but as soon as you begin to gather wealth you become a Republican. In the 2008 presidential election, 78% of Jews voted for Barack Obama, who became the first African-American to be elected president. Additionally, 83% of white Jews voted for Obama compared to just 34% of white Protestants and 47% of white Catholics, though 67% of those identifying with another religion and 71% identifying with no religion also voted Obama
As a group, American Jews tend to be better educated and earn more than Americans as a whole. Forty-six percent (55% of Reform Jews) report family incomes of over $100,000 compared to 19% of all Americans, with the next highest group being Hindus at 43%. And while 27% of Americans have had college or postgraduate education, fifty-nine percent (66% of Reform Jews) of American Jews have, the second highest of any religious group after American Hindus.
Either of these two statistics may be confounded by the fact that the Jewish population is on average older than other religious groups in the country, with 51% of polled adults over the age of 50 compared to 41% nationally. Older people tend to both have higher income and be more highly educated.
