Yes, but with this thread you posited the possibility that the recession was engineered by "elites." You can't argue that point without accepting that the Democrats were to blame for creating the housing bubble that triggered the recession. And that the Republicans tried in vain to prevent the disaster. If your position is that it was engineered, then it was done without republican collusion.

I see booth Republicans and Democrats as serving their puppeteers. Had one of the parties been ethical we would not have the mess we now find ourselves in. If it was engineered it was not done by one party by itself and any opposition we may have seen could just as well have been token opposition. Pardon me for holding the US political parties in such low esteem I just do.

Under present circumstances more control would be disastrous; how to reform government is a separate issue. I do not believe all are bought, just a majority and the rest has to fall in line to do anything.

Looking at what could have gone wrong when things don't add up is a quest to discover truths and if it looks like there is a conspiracy it has to be examined.
The people who are involved are disclosed by naming the people behind superpacs and heavy political donors.
