It's a campaign ad.  It's not an off-the-cuff remark.

In the 30 second ad she says that China spends 9% of its GDP on "infrastructure" and the USA only spends 2.4%.  This could be misleading for a couple of reasons.

1. China only recently discovered the free market economy whereas the US has been practicing free market principals since the beginning.  Since the free market causes civilization to advance much more quickly than centrally planned economies, the USA is much further down the "infrastructure" road than China and therefore our needs are less.  Or to put it a different way; China is building lots of brand new roads while the US only needs to pave existing roads.

2. What exactly is "infrastructure?"  In the USA it is various types of connectors that taxpayers pay for.  Are we sure China doesn't label other types of construction "infrastructure?"  This could be an apples-to-oranges comparison.

The takeaway for me is if I want the USA to spend like communist China I should vote for Elizabeth Warren.

China.  China?  The same china that just moves villages when they need to build "infrastructure"?  The same China that will put you in "camp" if you dare use the Internet to criticize the government for it's infrastructure seizure tactics?

That china?

Warren says in the ad that America has roads and bridges in need of repair. Undoubtedly there are some roads and bridges that are truly in need of repair but is there 9% of GDP in that condition?  I doubt it.  And if there is, are all these roads and bridges evenly spread out among the states or are some states going to get the bulk of the repair while others foot the bill?

The decision on when to repair or replace infrastructure should be made at the lowest level of government possible, certainly not at the federal level.  Warren is running for the US Senate right?  Not the place to be worrying about curbs and sewer lines. Leave that stuff to the local arms of government who know a lot better what the true needs are.

Perhaps she's an earmarker.

Does anybody have any idea why Scott Brown is now leading this race 49-43?

What's all this fuss about given that Romney and a lot of cons forward the idea that the U.S. is failing under China?

The background to this thread is that Ms. Warren made a speech comparing the U.S. unfavorably to the ChiComms.

this country calls it eminent domain and uses it to move people too. and if u dare do anything about it you go to our prisons too. what's ur point? i admit they r a bit harsher in their treatment-no money and so minor to simply criticize ...but still.

So why is Scott Brown leading in the most recent polling 49-43.  It's still "Teddy's seat", right?

Let's start with the end of my statement and work backwards.  Everyone one of us would be in jail for the criticism of the government we post daily.  Agreed?

Second, eminent domain in china is practiced by moving entire villages, without fair market value pricing and without elected officials.  You will be moved.  Here you can fight in the courts.  You may not win but you will get into court.

Other than that, yeah, we are just like 'em.

Dubya's ancient history and Teddy isn't. Very interesting.
