As I am reading the thread I notice there is a severe misunderstanding of the issue. Many people like me went to chick fil a today not because we agree with what Mr Cathy said because I don't ( what he really said) but because we support his right to voice a PERSONAL opinion free of government threats like those made in Chicago, Boston, and DC.

As much as the left wants to Make this about gay marriage it is not. I bet the lefties here don't know what he said. All they know is that they were told he is "bad" in simple terms that they can understand.

I was surprised to see from ChicK-Fil-A's website that there are 3 in my home state.  None of them near me though.

From what I've been reading it seems like many of the democrats that threatened Chick-Fil-A on that first day have gone into a full tilt 200 meter backpedal after realizing just how stupid that tact was.

That comes under the liberty of a community to govern itself. The Constitution doesn't guarantee any business any right to operate anywhere. The term "permit" means permission is required. If you do not have permission, you can't operate.

Employment practices are not free speech and are subject to compliance with law.

Oh, you mean the corporation head speaking his mind? He's entitled to that. He's entitled to discredit himself with his words, which he did. And a community is entitled to withdraw permission for a discredited employer of questionable employment practices to operate in their city.

No one has accused chick-fil-A of discriminatory employment practices, or discriminatory anything.  All you've got is the owner's personal opinion on the subject of homosexual marriage.
