This to me shows the change from when we were number one and now. The mindset of company was pro American during the 40, 50, 60, 70 part of the 80's  and what was good for companies was good for our country, but now it's get all we can cause we can live anywhere its safe now. Does anyone believe that the top ten country paid that kind of taxes back then when we were number one, history statistic say no they paid much more. Kentay

The study also calculated the overall amount the companies owed in both domestic and foreign taxes. This includes deferred taxes that will, theoretically, be paid in the future, once the companies bring foreign profits back to the United States. Apple, for instance, avoided $2.4 billion in American taxes last year by utilizing offshore tax havens.

If Republicans have their way, however, those deferred taxes may never be paid. Switching to a territorial tax system, a policy leading Republicans have considered, would allow corporations to repatriate foreign profits back to the United States nearly free of taxation, costing the country billions of dollars and thousands of jobs.
Republican Campaign Mantra:
We turned over a real mess to President Obama, he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough, so give us another chance to  create a depression.

If they'd have paid higher taxes the products that they sell would have cost more.  Corporations don't really pay taxes, their customers do in the form of higher prices.  Slap a big tax increase on McDonalds and you increase the selling price of hamburgers and fries.
