It's All About Being Persuasive. Ingram is NOT Persuaded.
« on: August 13, 2012, 10:22:31 pm »
Only Papa Bear Bill O'Reilly could post something like this on the Fox News site and get away with it.

It's what Laura Ingram said on the air. My my my, what's the con world coming to?

Quote
Now, I realize that some of you won't like hearing this, but if the election were held today, Romney would probably lose. Two surveys released within hours of each other by CNN and Fox reported Obama up by seven points and nine points respectively.

The swing state story is not a good one either. The real Clear Politics average has Obama up seven in Pennsylvania, five in Ohio, and three in Virginia. Obama leads by slim margins in Florida and Colorado.

So with unemployment still above eight percent and two-thirds of the country thinking that we're going in the wrong direction, how on earth is Obama still ahead? Is every poll other than Rasmussen flawed or biased? First reason, negative ads and Romney brand management.
...

This was Ann Coulter's opinion during the Republican primaries...before she drank the koolaid.

That is not what Ann Coulter was saying six or nine months ago.

It's clear that Team O's barrage of negative advertising has had some effect, albeit not a lot.  Romney is well within striking range, and his advertising blitz begins the day he is actually nominated.

Coulter basically said that if Romney wins the nomination, Republicans will lose. Same difference from where I sit.

Negative ads that have truth in them are more persuasive than ads with generalities and fiction in them.  Take for instance that ad which never aired that Romney was giving free publicity for...despite the fact that the facts were twisted, the ad nonetheless contains the fact that millions of other fired/laid-off/outsourced unemployed people are in that same boat and know the truth of facing death because of nothing more than losing their health care coverage that they worked for via their employers.

That's a fact, and a persuasive fact at that.

OK, that's a better way to put it but, remember, she said it in the context of pimping for Chris Christie.

In your opinion, political ads that are 100% lies may nonetheless contain a "higher" truth?  That's cool.

It wasn't 100% lies, though. I didn't mention any kind of higher truth.  I mentioned the truth of a situation that describes the situation millions are in now, and for that reason.  It's not called "higher truth", it's called "resonance".

Ya, Coulter does pimping. That's what I call "drinking the koolaid".

I missed whatever truthful statement was contained therein.  It was a pack of lies, and it certainly "resonated" if you accept the proposition that Mitt killed the man's wife.

Nope. The premise I accept is that "captains of industry" can't grok what their employees go through when the employees are treated as callously as all that, and it is a fact that the middle class has been treated so callously. The fact you can't wrap your head around that bit of commonality rather proves my point.

The woman had medical insurance.  Her death, tragic as it was, had nothing to do with insurance or lack thereof.  There was no causality between the husband's company shutting down and the wife's death.

Besides, what was callous?  Companies aren't allowed to shut down, or society declares them immoral when they do?

It's not November and the election's not over.  I still give Obama a good chance of winning.  Given the economy he should get slaughtered but Romney is not a winner in the personality department so Obama has a good shot.

ted, I'm not disagreeing, but in my biased eyes the Obamessiah of 2008 has morphed in office into a snide, dislikeable cold fish.  I am weird?

A lot of Obama's shine has worn away. Of course it's not all his fault either.  Nobody could live up to the expectations that many people had.  Remember that who thought that Obama would alleviate her gasoline and mortgage worries?

I'm just afraid that for every informed and rational voter there is a dupe who can easily be sold the envy based get-something-for-nothing nonsense that BHO and his team are peddling.
