What Does the Public Think about Voter ID Laws?
« on: August 15, 2012, 08:53:52 pm »

http://www.washingtonpost.com/page/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2012/08/12/National-Politics/Polling/release_116.xml?uuid=E1kPqOQZEeGJ93biOpgtBg

Q: In your view, should voters in the United States be required to show official, government-issued photo identification -- such as a driver?s license -- when they cast ballots on Election Day, or shouldn't they have to do this?

74% = should be required
23% = should not

Not close, is it?

They shouldn't have to show one until everyone has one first.

There's nothing wrong with an ID requirement as such, but passing such a law that doesn't call for a year's worth of grace period in which the state issues all of its citizens such an ID first is a crock of bollocks.

Look at it this way.  Such a law assists all citizens by facilitating their right to travel [by air].

Just think, such a law could facilitate 21-year olds in obtaining booze and senior citizens applying for social security benefits!
