Top taxes on earnings in Norway is 54.7% the country enjoys full employment.
Top corporate tax in Norway is 28% Norway has no deficit problem, every child born in Norway is a millionaire.

I am not aware of Britain but I recall well on an airplane from Stavanger to London in 1969 sitting beside an executive from Phillips Petroleum. I asked him why they drilled in Norway when the Norwegian Government had to own 51% of the shares in the company's Norwegian venture before they could drill and then they taxed them 85% on the earnings on their 49% He told me it was still worth it.

Due to the Norwegian policies Norway now has its own oil company owned by all Norwegians (Statoil) and due to these policies, like I said, all Norwegian children are born millionaires. The Government can only use 4% of the oil income the rest is invested to secure the future of the children. Corporate taxes are also far lower due to the nation taking care of the people first and not lowering taxes until the nation could afford it.

Taxes in Norway up to about $100 000 a year is 35%, for that they get 5 weeks paid vacation, fully covered health care. Paid maternity leave (full paid) for a year etc. etc. I know, taxes are less here if you rake in millions but do you really believe the US system is superior?
You are currently destroying the middle class through the destruction of unions and peddling the policies of the wealthy sociopaths. Every great nation that went under went under after the middle class was destroyed and you expect me to think you have a clue?
It's a good thing you have all those capitalist countries to sell your oil to. Here we have a bunch of left wing wackos who try to stop progress at every step. But in Norway you can drill for offshore oil, build dams and even hunt whales. It must be nice for your economy to have the environmental wackos under control. Could you imagine what Alaska's economy would be like if they could drill ANWR and keep the money for themselves? They'd be born millionaires too.

How nice of you to show us your ignorance RWE. What you don't know could fill volumes.
Environmental consciousness does not equal left wing wackos but rather someone who is aware of the danger to the environment posed by human involvement and pollution. Here is another area where the Norwegian oil company is involve, the greening of the world deserts which would counteract global climate change: http://saharaforestproject.com/

The right wing wackos in the US, following the mantra of the super-rich sociopaths, showing their irresponsibility for humanity is the danger, not sane sensible corporations in socialist/capitalist countries where people come first!

I guess I shouldn't have been so nice when when i responded to your stupid comparison. How does norway compare to the USA or anyone else for that matter? Well, if every nation on Earth had a relatively small population and an abundance of oil, then everyone could do what Norway does, right? Except that the world price of oil would plummet and Norway would be broke. Then your tax rates might not produce full employment after all. Norway needs to sell oil to capitalists to maintain its socialist economy. That's how you pay for health care. And as far as environmentalism goes, we in the US have a lot of oil ourselves, but we don't have the freedom to drill for it that Norway does. And that's because of extremists from the left, namely Obama. How does whale meat taste, Mr Environment?

How ironic,...You brag about oil production in Norway, which produces profits by pumping tons of CO2 into the atmosphere which supposedly causes global-warming-planet-destruction, then you post some pipe dream sahara project as a solution to the problem Norway causes. All those baby millionaires in Norway are raking in money at the cost of polluting the world.
In the USA the environmental wackos wouldn't allow the deserts to be "greened" for fear some sand fly or lizard would suffer.

Gentlemen, what the UK calls marginal doesn't translate into American English anymore than spanner or bonnet does.

Let's keep the apples comparable to apples without throwing oranges and lemons into it.

WHAT?!?
American English does not always directly corresponds with British English and vice versa even though it sounds like the same terms are used.  While "apples and oranges" is a frequent American metaphor, "" is British, and it's also the name of a nursery rhyme tune the BBC used to use as an interval signal, and this is despite the fact they've been called "limeys".

Why not be nice? especially when it make you look like less of a fool!
The foundation of Norway's economy is fish, not oil which accounts for only 26%.
Health care is not paid for by oil, there is no need for it. Norway has a single payer health care which, while about the most expensive outside the US due to preventative medicine costs only a fraction. That you should bring up health care is only indicative of lack of knowledge!
Do you know what it costs the average US tax payer to pay for the medical for our military, government employees, jail inmates etc before we even start paying for our personal care? Correct, just about the same as Canadians pay to ensure proper medical care for the entire nation!

The whale caught in Norway is the Minke whale, relatively small, and since the harvest is strictly regulated it is so expensive I only tried it once. It tastes something between chicken and meat, quite delicious actually but it is illegal to export hence you would have to live there to taste it.

Oil drilling is also heavily restricted in Norway to protect areas where fish hatch and the coastline.
It is about time the US take up projects to combat CO2 destruction of our environment similar to the Sahara project and other Norwegian efforts. Like in Norway this would be paid for in its entirety by the oil companies who raked in fortunes polluting the world.

OK, your socialist economy works because you exploit an abundance of oil and fish which you sell to capitalists. That's not a solution for everybody, is it? as far as your sahara project goes,...it hasn't done anything yet. Why don't you get back to us after they've actually "greened" enough deserts to remove all the co2 that Norway has pumped into the environment. after all, oil is only 26% of your country's income. You don't need that money do you.

True; and we would miss out on all the ludicrous excuses employed by the right.

First off RWE: Norway is not a socialist economic society, it is social capitalism where certain things like Police, Education, military, freedom of speech, voting, medical and other things are considered the rights of every citizen hence it is available to all. The economic sector which includes oil is a free market society where, like oil the Government is free to compete.

When it comes to the Sahara project and others such as using ocean water for heating and cooling instead of oil it is not so important that Norway is successful! We have a situation that concerns the human race hence the wrong thing to do is ignore the problem and do nothing. If everyone worked at it we would more readily solve the problems!
By the way using ocean water for heating and cooling is very successful and cities such as New York, Los Angeles and all other by the sea as well as the cities by the great lakes could drastically reduce their CO2 footprint and save a fortune if it was employed here. Who is preventing it from being used here?
