The Due Process Clauses have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with taking away anybody's rights.

clara is denying that the Declaration is a foundational document.  She seems to think it's just a bunch of nice words bereft of any deep significance.

I know at least four major religions that have the same words in their holy book, so there has to be something more that gives us our rights and that is our beloved Constitution that spells out a Government for and by the people. There are two separate and distinct threads of political thought which motivated the Founders.  One is the theory of natural rights, which is the explicit governing philosophy of the Declaration.  The other is referred to as "classical republicanism", and that is embodied in our beloved Constitution.

Who me? It's been awhile since I read any of that. I suppose they were chosen for several purposes, but if I had to sum it up I'd say that they were chosen to be protected so they could inform mankind of what God has in mind for them.
