Labor Day--thank a union member
« on: September 01, 2012, 03:05:49 pm »
While this is technically true....

...we have unions to thank for the debacle known as corporate personhood, because this was part of the same battle fought with railroad tycoons.

Unions were just as misogynistic as corporate bosses where women were concerned and unless a woman belongs to a union that was set up to unite jobs that were traditionally female, no union engenders that particular gender's vote.

Right to Work laws are the other end of the extremities--no relation between employer and employee should exist without a contract whether individually bargained or collectively bargained.

Happy Labor Day.

Only those that forgot what the 1920's and 30's were like could want to destroy the unions. It is the only buffer between those that build the nation and the one's motivated only by greed!

Cant' argue with that--definitely don't want to turn the clock back to the Roaring 20's what brought on the '30's. But that ole gray union mare, she ain't what she used to be, especially given its misogynistic track record. This is a new milieu--FORWARD.

People need something; the ruthless corporate masters can not be allowed to use and abuse hard working honest people as in the case of Brothers Kooch, Disneyland, Wall-Mart and others.

Instead of complaining why don't you start your own business, pay your workers a living wage, give them lots of time off and full benefits all-the-while taking a just a modest paycheck for yourself.  Lead by example instead of harping about how bad everything is.

I have been supervising large high end construction projects for an owner that paid his workers a union wage with full benefits while taking a union salary for himself these last twelve years. People like that are out there, good honest people that care for others. They are never the super rich and don't care to be.

1.  Right to work states DO NOT  outlaw unions or break relationships.  The give the employee the CHOICE of joining free of coercion, or force.  The employee chooses where their money goes.

2.  Using your logic you should shake the hand of republicans for gathering enough votes to pass the civil rights act.

If everybody ran a business, nobody would have customers.  Or workers, for that matter. Try again.

No, you try again.  All Norway boy has done since  he created the screen name is **** about the country.  If he has serious issues with corporate America he should stop the whining and start is own business.

Are you sure he is not Gerry.

Quite sure. I've e-known him for years going back to the PBS Discussions board. He's the real deal.  BTW, you haven't done anything to refute my assertion that if everybody ran a business, there'd be no worker pool as everyone would be working their own business and, lacking other workers, couldn't expand.

Your response to RWE was nonsense in the context of the discussion to that point.  You created a strawman.  You ma'am have done nothing to rebut either my post or RWE's post.

Try again.

I don't have to when "run your own business" is the standard con answer to everything. It just isn't the answer to everything. You try again.

Pardon me for hurting your feelings Woody, as soon as there is a positive development I'll make sure to relay it.
The reason the US became great a few centuries ago was because the real Americans did not bend over when asked but fought against tyranny and oppression. Wishful thinking that the "New President" will make it all right is not going to work. Stupidity is applying a failed remedy hoping for a different result. What we have is a remedy that has failed repeatedly and if it hurts your feelings to get that pointed out I feel sorry for you!

You are exactly right.  Voting for Obama's policy of trying the same thing over and expecting a different result is insanity.  What we need is a little JFK/Reagan/Bill Clinton philosophy.

Norway, you do not know me well enough to make an  :mooner: of yourself by ASSuming you know my political philosophies.

Just sayin'

Where did I mention Obama?
I said you have to clean out all the dead meat in booth houses that work for corporate America, Democrats and Republicans alike!
