What does this mean to you, kentay?
A reminder for kentay:
I fully support going back to ALL, that says ALL THE CLINTON TAX and spend policies that led to the economic boom in the second half of the 90's.

So you are a dem.  Got it.  There was a time you argued vehemently that you were an independent.

If you were my teacher I would probably quit school, hire an English and writing tutor, and then get a GED.

Kentay,

You really call yourself an independent?  Why?  Based on what you've written you seem to be a rock-solid Democrat. You agree with the Democrat position well over 90% of the time.  In fact, is there any issue in which you side with Republicans?

I just don't get this.  Some of you people seem to think that if you aren't in complete lockstep or don't agree with 100% of Democrat positions, then you're independent.  Nonsense, you're a Democrat.  If total agreement were a requirement then there would be no Republicans or Democrats at all because nobody agrees 100% of the time with a political party.  Nobody.

I generally agree with the Republican's domestic agenda but often disagree with their international policies and tactics.  Am I an independent?  Nope, I'm a Republican.

Wasn't you a Democrat at one time? I am an Independent because I have voted for Republican many times, but not any since your party went bigoted and crazy. Because as a Christian man I had to separate from that kind of hate because it's never been a part of my heart.  I think that people who change parties are flip floppers and go where they think the power is and fail to stay and work within the party for change; because they were never true to the values of that party to begin with. People  who flip flop are like are like calling themselves Christian and yet they do not follow the man teaching or follow his words  who name they profess. They also end up changing their religious affiliation where they worship, (like Newt Gingrich) because it sounds better to them and they had limited respect where he was at. kentay

So you call yourself an independent now because in the past you have voted for Republicans.  Seems odd.  Do you also call yourself middle-aged because it's halfway between infancy and elderly?  To be honest you should associate yourself with which ever political party best fits your worldview TODAY.

Yes, I was a Democrat in my teens and twenties.  As I explained before, it was largely from ignorance.  As a young man I didn't give-a-hoot about politics or culture and my political beliefs were driven by emotion and a severe lack of knowledge and understanding about mankind and history.  Once I allowed myself to truly consider other points-of-view and I started looking beyond just the intentions of government programs and started examining the unintended consequences, the shine came off progressive thought rather quickly.

After posting with you I have this observation since I didn't know you back when you say you were "driven by emotion and a severe lack of knowledge" It appears to me your heart has harden more likely you had it right back when you were young because you are really lacking knowledge, Understanding and compassion,  today, In my opinion. Here is words the God spoke to man. kentay

And this

Revelation 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

In the Democratic Party you have real diversity of people within the Party. People of color, people of different religions, people with disabilities, Gay's, and many other diverse peoples all under one big tent of democracy. It's very different from the Republican party which is very restrictive and has driven most moderates and liberals and people of color out of there right wing, party.  While I am a religious person I don't want to force my religion on anyone and I can see that someone took those words out of the platform. Republican leaders like Romney and Ryan who say their platform means nothing to them as they have their own beliefs. When it comes to restricting a woman rights to not being able to have an abortion when they have been **** or for incest; both Romney and Ryan said they are in direct disagreement with their platform. President Obama was also in disagreement on the Democratic platform when someone left God and Jerusalem out of their platform.   Kentay
