Screwing Private Ryan

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-september-20-2012/screwing-private-ryan

It's amazing how the Republicans can always come up with money to fight wars but can't find any to repair the souls of those who they sent into harm's way. They are Hypocrites of the highest order they love wars, yet won't fight in them and when it's over they forget they charged the war to Future Generations and could care less about all the private Ryan's they sent to war, because they don't fight.. kentay
Republican Campaign Mantra:
We turned over a real mess to President Obama, he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough, so give us another chance to  create a depression.

Yeah, and some, in the Olden days joined the guard or the AIR FORCE and regale us with tales of their military prowess, how they avoided injuring themselves with a torque wrench.

Republicans love wars they don't fight in, and while the war is going on they become so pious and say thank you for your service to all of those young people who volunteered, thinking it was for their country.. But for those veterans returning from war of service and back to their country, the thank you for your service changes to you're on your own. The Republicans voted to kill jobs specifically designated for returning Veterans even though the bill cost was fully offset by new revenues. These same tired old Republicans are the ones who voted for two war with a cost of 2-4 trillion dollars, not paid for and they placed it on future generations credit card. Republicans have really worked at becoming, two face master Hypercritics of the highest order. kentay

Senate Republicans kill veterans' jobs bill

By Steve Benen on  Sep 19, 2012,  Associated Press

Sen. Jeff Sessions (R) of Alabama led the charge against the Veterans Job Corps Act.
With a major national election just seven weeks away, senators would have to be out of their minds to reject a jobs bill for U.S. military veterans, right?

Apparently not.

Veterans won't be getting a new, billion-dollar jobs program, not from this Senate. Republicans on Wednesday afternoon blocked a vote on the Veterans Job Corps Bill after Jeff Sessions of Alabama raised a point of order -- he said the bill violated a cap on spending agreed to by Congress last year.

The bill's sponsor, Patty Murray of Washington, said that shouldn't matter, since the bill's cost was fully offset by new revenues. She said Mr. Sessions and his party colleagues had been furiously generating excuses to oppose the bill, and were now exploiting a technicality to deny thousands of veterans a shot at getting hired as police officers, firefighters and parks workers, among other things.

The bill needed 60 votes to advance. The final tally was 58 to 40, and all 40 opponents of the proposal were Republicans.
As proposals go, this should have been a no-brainer. The Veterans Job Corps Act of 2012, sponsored by Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.), sought to lower unemployment among military veterans, giving grants to federal, state, and local agencies, which in turn would hire veterans -- giving priority to those who served on or after 9/11 -- to work as first-responders and in conservation jobs at national parks.

The bill was fully paid for, and entirely bipartisan -- Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) had his own set of ideas for the bill, and Murray incorporated all of them into her legislation.

And yet, all but five Senate Republicans voted to kill it anyway, 48 days before a national election. Even Burr sided with his party to defeat the bill, and it was filled with his provisions.

A New York Times editorial added the other day, "It makes sense for the 99 percent of Americans to find new ways to pay their debt to the 1 percent who serve in uniform. To most people, Senator Murray's bill would seem like one decent way to do that. But not if you're one of those Republicans in Washington who thinks it's more important in an election year to deny Democrats a success or accomplishment of any kind."

What kentay fails to mention.  Imagine that.

Why create a bill that duplicates already existing programs?  And kentay wonders why we are 16 trillion in debt?

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/19/veterans-jobs-bill-blocked-in-the-senate/

The measure, which would have potentially created jobs for up to 20,000 veterans, was blocked on a procedural point by Republicans, who argued that the bill was unpaid forThe procedural vote was 58 to 40; 60 votes would have been required to waive Republican objections. The bill was opposed, by, among others, Senator Tom Coburn, Republican of Oklahoma, who said he believed the bill duplicated existing job programs for veterans that are not well run, and Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, who has been seeking amendments on bills that would cut off funding to Egypt and to Pakistan until Pakistan freed Shakil Afridi, the doctor who helped the United States find Osama bin Laden.

LOL!

Kentay, this has nothing to do with me or you, or any one who served a twenty year career.  This has to do with creating a new spending program that duplicates existing spending programs.

I asked you a question.  Why are we creating yet another unfunded spending program that duplicates existing programs when we are 16 trillion in debt?

As an aside this is why I advise not giving this man any personal info.  It is used as fodder to cover his ineptness in posting.   ;)

How can a disable Veteran turn his back on his comrades, when he knows that Republicans love wars for the money they can make. But will do everything they can to keep from serving in a war they started and love.  You have a lifetime in front of you, living off the Government yet you put down the very people with your hand out. You really are a two face hypocrite and you know it. You never ever said anything about the BA not paying for the two trillion they put on future generations to pay as a matter of fact you defended him and what they did. I will say it again you're a two face hypocrite of the highest order. All you are doing now is copying the cheap rhetoric from your master because they have no concern for returning hero's just the ones going to fight  their wars of choice and to make money on the backs of middle class and poor, you are a two face hypocrite of the highest order.   kentay
