David Gregory - Outlaw
« on: January 09, 2013, 12:14:27 pm »
Quote
On the Dec. 23 edition, host David Gregory held up what appeared to be a high-capacity assault rifle magazine during an interview with NRA chief Wayne LaPierre. The case has now moved on to the Office of the Attorney General, reports the Washington Post.

Possessing a magazine capable of holding 10 or more rounds of ammunition, even if empty, is a misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Isn't this a perfect example of how silly one-size-fits-all laws can be?

Re-read the First Amendment. That's a one-size-fits-all law.

So has been the 2nd Amendment because of the NRA.

The First Amendment:
Quote
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The Second Amendment:
Quote
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

You will notice that both the first and second amendments are laws that restrict the government, not the people.  This high-capacity magazine law controls the people.  It's the complete opposite of the intent of both amendments. In fact the entire Bill of Rights is about restricting the government, not the people.

Was there gun control prior to the NRA?

Yes. It's how the Wild Wild West became civilized. It's time to civilize the NRA.

Nice try at a premise, but that premise violates the domestic tranquility sections of the rest of the Constitution.

I remind you of what this nation was like in the 1930's when businessmen couldn't live without guns--businessmen like Al Capone.  We'll be damned if we go back to that.

Oh yeah. Chicago is such a nice place now. They've really cleaned it up since Capone was running it.

...which are now in Texas and other southern border states, enjoying NRA/gun show hospitality.  They're not in Chicago anymore and haven't been for a long time.  Coyotes and drug dealers and drug cartels <3 the NRA.

But they really love Obama's fast and furious assault weapon delivery service. 30 minutes or less, or your ak47 is free.

But unlike Obama, Bush's project traced the guns, arrested bad guys and it was shut down once the cartels caught on. Obama let the guns go untraced, nobody was busted and it kept feeding guns to criminals until the  Republican Congress stopped it.

By the way,...do you really think that "They're not in Chicago anymore and haven't been for a long time. "?

I don't think so. Criminals like gun control laws because it gives them more territory in which to operate without being challenged by law abiding people.  Criminals like unarmed powerless people.

I'm guessing that the teachers trapped in the classrooms at Sandy Hook would have preferred to see the shooter taken down in a vicious and violent manner rather than having no options other than to cower in the corner waiting for their number to come up.
