Background Checks
« on: January 10, 2013, 04:05:38 pm »
Right now Google News is showing the number one story to be:

Quote
Biden says gun task force eyeing 'universal' background checks...

Background checks. Yeah the government has an excellent track record at checking into things.  Like when the SEC was informed at least 5 times over a 20 year period about Bernie Madoff's shenanigans and they did pretty much nothing:

Quote
An investigator at the Securities and Exchange Commission warned superiors as far back as 2004 about irregularities at Bernard L. Madoff's financial management firm, but she was told to focus on an unrelated matter, according to agency documents and sources familiar with the investigation.

This background check idea has boondoggle written-all-over-it but at least it will give politicians cover until the next shooting and it will warm the hearts of liberals everywhere because liberal orthodoxy says it's better to feel like you're doing good than do actually do good.

I've been told that requiring citizens to show ID prior to voting disenfranchises the poor, the elderly, and minorities. Likewise, we wouldn't want to hamper their 2nd Amendment rights by requiring ID. Thom Hartman's mother wouldn't be able to go duck hunting if she had to have ID.

Gun ID laws would have prevented Sandy Hook, right?

Of course not--what it does is remove NRA protection of terrorists buying guns at gun shows.  Until gun owners are both registered and traceable, the NRA protects terrorists.  But of course cons prefer to blame Obama for Fast & Furious even though it was Dubya's operation and even though the NRA made sure arms couldn't be traced.

The NRA is a terrorism-protecting organization by being the author of all the gun laws it currently whines about lacking enforcement due to all the loopholes the NRA put in all of those laws.

You are such an Obama toady! The operation under Bush was stopped under Bush. Obama started a different operation all on his own. He is responsible for the deaths and mayhem. No one else. But you seem to be such a democratic Party lick-spittle that you can't allow Obama to stand up like a man and accept responsibility for his own actions. Never, not once. And how in your warped mind is it possible for the NRA to prevent the federal government from tracing guns which they purchased? How could that even be considered rational?

The NRA protects Terrorists?  You want to explain where you came up with this magical little thought?  What liberal site did you go to and learn this BULLSHIT from?

You can't be serious.  Gun ID laws would stop terrorists?  Wow!

And as for Fast & Furious, well, of course, the recession we may be soon entering will obviously be George Bush's fault!
