I've been away from politics for a day or so. Why have libs become disenchanted with Sen Reid?

It's because of he's being Lucy with the filibuster reform football. McConnell dragged him over to the Dark Side. XD

It would be pretty hard for you to blame Bush for Reids actions, but at least you found a republican to blame. Poor Harry.

Mitch deserves a lot of blame for a lot of things.  And there's a reason why Blue Dogs got the boot, too--Republicans have never let us forget how Obama couldn't get stuff thru a congress that was dominated by Dems.  Behold a remnant Dem that explains why.

It's like I said, many times before--I don't like Dems.  What I like are people who don't have their heads up their partisan ideological asses, and it's the Republicans that have recently cornered the market in heads-in-assery. I'm in favor of cooler heads prevailing, and you can't find a cool head among cons these days, whether the cons are Rep or Dem.

You say it, but you still carry their water.

I do not. What I do is recognize facts as facts when I see facts, regardless of the source. Reps don't have any.

That's right, Clara, Dems have all the facts. Here, let me help you carry that water bucket.

Perhaps Dingy Harry is thinking about his future role as Minority Leader.

No need. Water-carrying is a Limbaugh concept that got dictated to the con rank/file. It doesn't apply over here.

That's a value judgment with which I concur; however, you are missing my point.  Dingy and a bunch of other Democrats are loath to abolish the filibuster since they want to have it available the next time they need it.

This is exactly what makes the "2 party system" rubbish--well, one of many reasons. It's not a "system" when it fails to work, and it doesn't work in either case except for party power plays.

It was a "states rights" conservative idea for each state to designate all of its electoral college votes in favor of the presidential candidate that wins the majority, but now cons are pushing for proportional electoral college voting because it would have been to their advantage in the handful of states that cast electoral votes for Obama...and now Dems are screaming about them trying to steal elections.

This is a "2 party SYSTEM"? There's never a states rights proponent when one's called for, and proportional electoral representation is what the nation used to have, so that's not "election stealing".  A pox on both parties.

OK, now you're changing the subject from the filibuster to the Electoral College.  With respect to the filibuster, I don't think the issue is the two party system; rather, I think the issue is a more general nod toward minority rights.  The House of Representatives was explicitly designed to reflect the popular will of the moment, but the Senate was not.

The two party "system" isn't a system, and it's rubbish no matte which topic we're talking about.

It's only under 2 parties that you have to worry about a single minority, so what you say about minority rights is equally as much rubbish.
