I am a Christian man and I believe in evolution. kentay
Combining Christianity with Evolution, eh? That's an interesting concept. So, I'm guessing here that in your judgement, God has established a system of "natural selection" or "survival of the fittest" and that any efforts by you or I to aid the less fit is contrary to God's plan. Is that how it works? Diseases like the HIV virus or diabetes would then be something that would eliminate from the gene pool those that were not "fit" for survival. Am I understanding you correctly? So, in your judgement it would be wrong to interfere with the evolutionary process that God has determined to be best for mankind. Helping those less fortunate would be wrong and allowing them to die would be what Jesus would do, thus preventing them from contaminating the gene pool with their inferior traits. That would be Christianlike? I'm not sure if I would agree with you. The evolutionary process seems so meanspirited and anti-Christian. How do the meek inherit the Earth if they die off?
Well, a person who has noticed that Bibles contradict themselves wouldn't have a tough time answering those questions especially in view of the news about Aimee, the gal who fell victim to a flesh-eating virus...and considering all the other parasites God engineered into his Intelligent Design (ever hear of the brain-eating protozoa?), God's plan for us is to be food for his pets. We're pet food. The meek that shall inherit the earth are the single-celled meek critters. They were here before the larger critters even if God never mentioned 'em in that book of his, and they'll be here long after bigger critters are gone.
so,...as a person who rejects God and believes in evolution as the mechanism for the success of a species, would you agree that compassion is not a desirable trait for which nature selects? would you side with the eugenicists who said:
"Fostering the good-for-nothing at the expense of the
good is an extreme cruelty. It is a deliberate storing
up of miseries for future generations. There is no greater
curse to posterity than that of bequeathing them an increasing
population of imbeciles." Margaret Sanger Founder Planned Parenthood
