Thanks Kentay: Now have you ever wondered why nations that are more secular and do not claim to follow your God have higher moral and ethical standards than nations claiming to be a "Christian Nation"!
Gnosisquest, I have to be honest because many years ago I was believing how Godless other country were compared to the USA, because I had swallowed all of the religious kool-aid. It was only after I started reading my holy book for myself that I seen what a bunch of hypocrites I was living among. Just like your words tell where your heart is so do words without works tell more about where you're coming from deep down in your soul. You can never convince me you love a fetus and could care less about the least among us, the born children education and nurturing and trying to control a woman right to control her own body. Nowhere in my holy book does Christ ever try to control any one sinners or believers, because sins is on the individual biases and not by group think about what they think. What everyone should be focused on is yourself and if you get that right, it would change the world. But the hypocrites set themselves up as overseas of truth and never mind their sins yours are always worse. In answers to your question the answers is yes and that is why I started changing because my eyes were opened with what I was seeing in other countries. I could no longer justify my feelings that I was so much better, because our country claim to be a Christian country. but what I was witnessing was my countries hypocrites; and comparing them to other Country citizen and what they believed not only by words but actions. I have lived and worked with people all over the world and I really respect and love the Scandinavian, European and some far eastern countries where there is the love for the least among them as they are truly living their religion. kentay
:applause:
Being honest when the results of one's mental activity is not as one might wish is perhaps the greatest difficulty any person can confront therefore I applaud you.
Years ago I culled my own adage which goes: "Behind every excuse lies a failure, to justify a failure only compounds its magnitude".
The greatest problem with Christianity is the notion we are "sinners". This creates an immediate excuse.
The fact is most people are not evil; most people are good, yet evil exist.
If 5% of the human population is evil then 95% is good and the focus should be on the good and what we could do to remedy the 5%.
If 5% of the apples in an orchard was rotten you would not condemn the entire orchard but rather avoid contamination.
Since our philosophical attitude is wrong we have no way to isolate ourselves from the contamination. Rotten apples such as Hitler contaminated an entire nation with his rotten policies and caused death and destruction.
Rotten apples such as Brothers Kooch are doing similar things to this nation as are R Money, and the right wing policies.
A proper philosophy would say something like: Any evil or selfish action is an insult to God and an affront to humanity"! Personally I like a saying from the Egyptians, almost 6000 years old which goes: "If there is an afterlife will you spend eternity avoiding those you have wronged in this life?"Our life span is less than the blink of an eye on a geological time scale. The life is not as important as our action.
