Movie House Massacre
« on: July 21, 2012, 06:57:46 am »
Anybody else feel that round-the-clock coverage of incidents like this are inappropriate, unnecessary, ineffective and possibly even harmful?  I just don't see why this deserves such attention since it is such a random act and reporting on it from every angle possible still provides no clear means of preventing the next incident.

Let me be clear that I'm not calling for any type of government regulation of the media, I'm just saying that these news groups would do well to report what they know, and then move on.  It's a big world and lots of important things are happening, having 400 reporters providing 24 x 7 coverage of the same isolated incident seems dumb to me.

Republican Campaign Mantra:
We turned over a real mess to President Obama, he hasn't cleaned it up fast enough, so give us another chance to  create a depression.

I get the feeling that our friend, Mr. Kentay, is working on commission, getting paid for every cut-and-paste he makes.

So back to the original question; anybody else think this coverage is over-the-top?

And now a return to the topic.

I agree.  I think it is harmful as each news outlet reports every little tidbit, mostly false, in an effort to get the scoop over the others.  I don 't pay much attention until a few days later when they get some real facts.
A reminder for kentay:
I fully support going back to ALL, that says ALL THE CLINTON TAX and spend policies that led to the economic boom in the second half of the 90's.

I agree completely Woody. Both you and I and the I suspect the entire Duke Lacrosse team look with a skeptical eye on everything being reported.

I'm afraid that the actual motive of these evil-doers is precisely to make themselves the media stars of the ensuing coverage.
Zionism is the National Liberation Movement of the Jewish People.

ABC news has been on the forefront of getting the details wrong. Of course they were quick to make a possible connection between the shooter and the Tea Party.

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2012/07/aurora-abc-draws-possible-tea-party-connection-129568.html

And then they were quick to report on the shooter's mother's comments after awakening her from sleep:

At this point I guess we know that ABC doesn't stand for Always Being Cautious.

Partisan people will but it is discouraging when supposedly non-partisan news organizations blame the GOP too.

Ted while I agree with you, people are going to put the blame on someone else.

Look at the Giffords thing.

Logner had issues with Giffords for YEARS and who do they blame?  Palin.  Now I don't care for her myself, but don't blame someone that has nothing to do with it, just so you can sleep better at night
